Find Rustic Elegance at The Venue At Crooked Willow Farms

Crooked Willow Farms rests in the midst of the lush Larkspur countryside and offers a rustic space for your dream wedding. The team behind this space understands how to throw a celebration unparalleled by any other! Whether you want a classic barn wedding or prefer an intimate lakeside ceremony, they know how to make sure you have everything you need for your dream celebration. As a Colorado wedding photographer, I have had the chance to work with some pretty phenomenal spots, yet The Venue at Crooked Willow Farms remains one of my favorites. Here’s everything you need to know about this venue!

About The Venue At Crooked Willow Farms

10554 South Perry Park Road, Larkspur, Colorado 80118

Located just 30 minutes away from Denver, Crooked Willow Farms brings you historic farmhouse vibes wrapped up in modern luxury. The farmhouse rests on over 90 acres, putting you right in the middle of your own personal paradise. The property dates back to the early 20th century when the Manager’s House was first built. This home is tucked away, overseeing the property while adding a little authentic charm to the environment. The surrounding buildings are recent additions that continue to stay in pristine shape. The iconic red paint and white accents give a nod to the Kentucky countryside, while the interiors offer all the amenities you could need for a seamless event.

Over the years, the farm has become a favorite for both professional and hobbyist equestrians. On one half of the property, you will find an outdoor arena leading into well-maintained stables. Occasionally, you’ll find horses out in the field grazing on grass as the sun sets behind the mountains. Another section of the property carries a wildlife sanctuary built for local conservation work. The wedding venue stays separate from these areas, giving you a premium view of the property while eliminating any potential inconveniences from your day. Since starting out, Crooked Willow Farms has continuously been recognized as one of the best in the business by wedding sites such as The Knot. When you book this property for your wedding, you can count on high-end service in the midst of your own personal Eden.

Details of the Grounds

One of the many things I love about this property is how they give you the ability to plan every second of your celebration right on the property. Your day is going to start out in the morning as you arrive at the Bridal Suite. This area has been designed to feel like a rustic cabin. The walls are outfitted with polished wooden paneling, while large windows look out over the property. Each room has been outfitted with antique furniture, and several full-length mirrors will be there as you pull together your look. They invite you to book your hair and makeup services right on the property so you can have the most relaxed morning ever! You can sit back and sip champagne with your besties as you get ready for the rest of the day.

Grooms are going to adore the Groom Lounge and Cigar Room. Much like the Bridal Suite, this area has wood paneling with upscale leather furniture. Crystal chandeliers hang down to offer soft lighting throughout the space. Once everyone is done getting ready, you can alternate heading outside to take pictures so you don’t have to worry about spoiling the grand reveal.

If you have kids who will be there to help out with the ceremony, you will have access to the Kid’s Lodge. This thoughtfully designed space is going to make sure your flower girls or ring bearers don’t get too bored. There are cozy bean bag chairs set up around televisions so you can throw on a movie. Personally, I think the kids are going to be too distracted by all the amazing games to even need any screen time! The space has a giant Connect Four game, Jenga, and coloring stations where kiddos can make their own creations.

Ceremony Locations At The Venue At Crooked Willow Farms

For those who want an authentic barnyard wedding, you are going to love Lola’s Loft. There are several entrances, including a unique spiral staircase and a larger set of stairs that open to a hand-crafted turret. Inside, you will find a cathedral ceiling with exposed wooden beams where sunshine streams through the cracks. The walls are made from matching wood and hold sconces that you can light up for a warm glow. On its own, this space is incredibly gorgeous, but once you add your own flowers and decorations, it becomes downright magical! You will be able to accommodate up to 100 seated guests.

If you want an outdoor wedding but don’t want to wander too far away from the main building, you can use The Courtyard. Nestled between the two property wings, this space offers an intimate outdoor spot to exchange vows. The brick aisle is surrounded by Colorado wildflowers, and string lights hang from the trees. It’s a wonderfully romantic spot to start the next chapter of your story! This area can hold up to 100 guests.

The Mountain View Lawn

Larger weddings can take place on The Mountain View Lawn. There are several things about this space that make it so ideal for your ceremony. To start out, the ground is lush and flat, with plenty of seating for your guests. Next up is the entryway. If you’ve been looking for your grand, dramatic entrance, this is it! This area is located right next to Lola’s Loft, and many use the outdoor staircase for the bride to start her walk down the aisle. You can decorate the railing with flowers to add your own personal flourishes. The front of the lawn features a wooden pergola built by the venue. This provides you with a rustic archway that doesn’t obscure the mountains just behind you. The venue has also added some landscaping to this area, creating some extra natural beauty to an already breathtaking space.

Cocktail Hour

Once your ceremony is over, it’s time for your cocktail hour. The venue has a few designated spots where your guests can relax before it’s time for the next portion of the evening.

The Gaming Arena was created to give your guests a fun way to stay entertained while you take your pictures. Over here, your friends and family can play corn hole, yard Yahtzee, horseshoes, Jenga, and badminton. There’s even a volleyball net! You can set up an outdoor bar so people can grab drinks before heading over to play a game.

Another area you can use for this portion is Willow Park. This area is positively picturesque, with a lake where swans swim near the fountain. Your guests can enjoy lawn games, sip on cocktails, and sign your guest book while keeping nearby access to the indoor amenities.

The Courtyard can also be utilized during your cocktail hour. This is the perfect contingency spot in case the ground is a little too muddy to be enjoyable. You can move all your games here and ensure your guests can make tons of memories!

Luxurious Receptions At The Venue At Crooked Willow Farms

Your evening will conclude inside at The Carriage House Ballroom. This is an indoor space that is completely stunning! The room features high ceilings with delicate brass light features to illuminate the space. The back wall is white with arched windows that let in the views of the outdoors. The walls to the side are outfitted with elegant pine paneling and exposed brick that tie in the farm’s rustic environment. Sconces add a soft glow to the room. I adore this space because it has been thoughtfully created to accommodate every part of your reception.

If you decide to have a buffet dinner, you can set your food in the back in the Wine Room so your guests can go and grab food without you losing any real estate. This area can also be closed off and used for a private dinner party if you are planning a micro-wedding. Another area the venue invites you to use is their Photo Booth. Throughout the night, your guests can duck away and spend time snapping pictures before coming back out to party. The Carriage House Ballroom can host up to 250 seated guests or 225 guests for a reception.

Photography Opportunities

The Venue At Crooked Willow Farms is full of picture-perfect spots, so you can have memories of every second. Both the Bridal Suite and the Groom Lounge will be ideal for candid snapshots with your wedding party. Once you are done with these, you can head outside and get some pictures in the fields surrounding the venue. For your first look pictures, you will see a variety of spots, including Lola’s Loft and Willow Park. The spiral staircase leading up to the loft has a window to the side, so you can have some natural light if you choose to use this space.

After your ceremony, it will be time to snap some pictures with your friends and family. The Mountain View Lawn is going to be the best spot for these! This area is flat and accessible, making it the ideal place for people of all ages and abilities. For your couple’s portraits, you will definitely want to use the Reflection Pond. This scenic space is secluded, with large trees separating you from the crowds. From intimate kisses to first-look portraits, this is a spot that will shine through your pics.
